  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Enrique, who played for Liverpool from 2011 to 2016, has backed his former side to secure a 5-0 win against Erik ten Hag's men on Sunday. Liverpool currently sit in second place in the Premier League table - after already securing the Carabao Cup back in February - while United are down in sixth place, with the FA Cup representing their only real chance of silverware this term.

    WHAT ENRIQUE SAID

Speaking on The Counter Attack podcast, the former Reds defender said: "I don’t fancy Manchester United to get a result on Sunday. Obviously when I was at Liverpool I didn’t get to experience them being this superior to Manchester United – it was more of a 50/50 when I played and sometimes United were the better team.

"This is still a difficult game for Liverpool, but I really think they are going to win. Manchester United are actually playing worse at Old Trafford than when they play away from home – it’s not the same as it used to be when I was playing. I’d love Liverpool to pick up a really big win here – I’m going to go with 5-0 to them. They’re scoring so many goals at the moment and their attack is as good as it’s been all season. I’d love a big result like that – firstly for Liverpool but also for Jurgen Klopp."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

The two sides met for the first time in the 2023-24 campaign back in December, where the Red Devils held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at Anfield - a stark contrast to their previous meeting, which ended in a 7-0 win for Klopp's men in March 2023.

    WHAT NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL?

Following the FA Cup clash on Sunday, Liverpool will take a much-needed break throughout the international period. After this, Klopp will be hoping he can welcome back a number of key first-team players from injury, such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch.
