  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson has sat out the Reds’ last three games with a hamstring injury. The South American shot-stopper picked up that knock in the closing stages of a 1-1 draw with Manchester City on November 25. Mac Allister, meanwhile, took a couple of hefty blows – including one to his ankle – during a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United last time out.

    WHAT KLOPP SAID

Asked for updates on his No.1 keeper and World Cup-winning Argentine midfielder, Klopp told reporters: “Alisson looks good. I don't know if good enough for tomorrow. Macca doesn't look good. We have to see day by day. We have to see how he shows up. I don't expect him to be ready for tomorrow.”

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Liverpool have also lost Joel Matip to a season-ending ACL injury, while Thiago Alcantara, Andy Robertson and Diogo Jota are among the others currently stuck on the sidelines. Klopp added on the constant battle that Premier League bosses face when it comes to dealing with fitness issues: “Most teams are only two injuries away from a real problem.”

    WHAT NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL?

The Reds have been able to contend with enforced absences this season, with Klopp seeing his side suffer just one defeat through 15 Premier League games. A healthy 34-point return has them sat second in the table, two points adrift of Arsenal and with an opportunity to hit top spot – albeit briefly – with victory over Palace on Saturday lunchtime.
