Lionel Messi joins wife Antonela Roccuzzo to watch son Thiago in action for Inter Miami's U13s with pot of mate in hand after latest MLS victory

The Herons’ senior side have made history by claiming the Supporters’ Shield for the first time. They boast the best record in MLS this season, allowing them to surge into the play-offs as their talismanic captain takes his record-breaking collection of trophies to 46 and counting.

Messi was given a rest during Inter Miami’s latest outing, as he played just 30 minutes from the bench in a 1-0 win over Toronto on Canadian soil, and he has also made a point of relaxing away from the field. The 37-year-old’s busy schedule means that he is not always able to watch his sons in action – leaving Antonela to fill the role of “soccer mom”.

Messi was, however, in attendance for Thiago’s latest U13 fixture. He has been impressing within Inter Miami’s academy system, with tangible success already being enjoyed by the youngster. His father was on hand, with a pot of mate brought along with him, to see the Herons’ most recent outing.

Inter Miami’s first team have one more regular season fixture to take in, against the New England Revolution, as they seek to make more history with the highest points tally ever posted in MLS. They will then ready themselves for play-off action, with eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi having even more silverware in his sights.
