Life after Wayne Rooney looks bright! Plymouth snatch 2-2 draw with Bristol City after stoppage-time drama in first game after Man Utd legend's sacking

Plymouth Argyle are stuck to the bottom of the Championship standings as Rooney led the Pilgrims to just four wins in 23 games during his tenure. After a run of nine winless games, the Championship side parted ways with the England legend, who only joined the club at the start of the season.

Plymouth started their first game after Rooney with a 2-2 draw as the Pilgrims came back from a deficit twice as Bristol City opened the scoring with Anis Mehmeti in the 32nd minute before Rami Al Hajj equalised for the home side. However, the Championship playoff contenders scored minutes later via Jason Knight and Plymouth pushed through in injury time to grab a late leveller.

Plymouth have yet to appoint a permanent replacement for Rooney and first-team coach Kevin Nancekivell has been appointed as the interim boss of the Pilgrims in the meantime.

The Pilgrims are back in action when they take on Stoke City at bet365 Stadium on January 4 as they look to get their first win in 10 Championship games.
