    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Suarez is closing in on 500 goals at club level, with just three more efforts required to hit that mark, and is his country’s all-time leading scorer after finding the target on 68 occasions through 138 appearances for La Celeste.

  • WHAT RAKITIC SAID

Rakitic witnessed Suarez’s many talents at close quarters during their time together at Camp Nou, with the Croatian midfielder telling ARLS of why the fearsome forward has always stood out from the crowd: “Crazy, he has the instincts of a killer. He has one personality on the pitch and another one outside. Once he puts the boots on, he will do anything to score, and he wants to be the one to score, he’s a beast when it comes to scoring. He’s pushing, he’s fighting, but his biggest quality is that he only needs one opportunity, he is a crazy, crazy finisher.”

    WHAT NEXT FOR SUAREZ?

Inter Miami are hoping to put those qualities to good use in 2024, with Suarez and Messi in the process of chasing down more major honours for their respective collections. Questions have, however, been asked of whether either will feature in the Herons’ next outing against the New England Revolution – which will take place on the artificial turf of Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts.
