The Dutch star was not named in Liverpool's matchday squad against Arsenal in the FA Cup third round after he fell ill due to a viral infection. After the match, Klopp provided a hilarious update on the player's condition, and suggested he could be fit again in time for the Reds' next game.

At his post-match press conference, the Reds manager was asked if the talismanic centre-half will return for a semi-final first leg clash with Fulham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, to which he replied: "We hope so. It's difficult for Virgil to look sh*t, but he did."

Despite missing several key first-team players, the Merseyside club comfortably beat Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates. Jakub Kiwior's own goal broke the deadlock for the visitors while Luis Diaz scored a late second to send his team through to the fourth round of the FA Cup.
