'It is a massive help!' - Jurgen Klopp begs Liverpool fans to get Anfield rocking for top-of-the-table clash with Arsenal

The German manager had blasted the Liverpool faithful midweek as he felt the excitement in the stands was lacking despite his boys being on top of their game against West Ham in a 5-1 win. Klopp has once again sent out a plea to the supporters through his programme notes, demanding them to be at their vociferous best when Arsenal visit Merseyside.

Klopp wrote: "I know fixtures against Arsenal are always looked forward to anyway because our clubs are two of the biggest in English football, but the timing of this one – just before Christmas Day and with the two teams positioned where we are in the Premier League table – will hopefully make the atmosphere even more special.

"I spoke about the atmosphere after our win against West Ham United in midweek and the only reason for that was because I know how good it can be at Anfield and what a difference it can make. The truth is that if we have our fans on their toes it is a massive help. It really is. One of the things I believe most strongly in football is that when the fans and players are singing from the same hymn sheet, so to speak, you become a much more powerful force. There are so many examples of this and so many of them happened at this place that it can only make sense that we should look to create some more."

Klopp wants to keep no stone unturned to emerge triumphant against Mikel Arteta's side who come into this titanic fixture just a point ahead of the Reds. A victory at Anfield will be a massive boost to their title ambitions and more importantly to the morale amid a busy festive period.

Liverpool have won three of their last five matches in the Premier League. Their last outing against Manchester United ended in a 0-0 draw despite dominating proceedings for the bulk of the match. However, the encounter against Arsenal is anticipated to be an end-to-end as the Gunners would be eager to hold on to their pole position in the Premier League standings.
