Jude Bellingham takes clear swipe at Lamine Yamal on Instagram after Real Madrid beat Barcelona in bad-tempered Clasico

  • El Clasico ends on a controversial note

The dramatic encounter at Bernabeu ended on a controversial note as players and officials from both clubs got involved in an ugly altercation near the touchline. It all started after Pedri picked up his second yellow card of the night towards the end of the match. Jude Bellingham, who was substituted in the 90th minute, soon found himself in the middle of chaos in the technical area, but was ushered away.

The England international returned to the pitch after the full-time whistle as Yamal got into an argument with Dani Carvajal. The Madrid star appeared to tell his Spain team-mate that he "talks too much". Courtois and Vinicius Junior were also seen remonstrating with Yamal, while Raphinha, who was not part of the matchday squad, was among those trying to defend his Barca colleague.

Days before the big-ticket clash, Yamal had angered Real players by saying: "Yes, they steal, they complain all the time…"

Those words were always likely to come back to haunt Yamal, especially after Madrid won the clash 2-1

    Bellingham takes swipe at Yamal

Hours after the game, Bellingham took to Instagram to share some photographs from the contest, while in the caption, the England star took an obvious swipe at Yamal. Bellingham wrote: "Talk is cheap. HALA MADRID SIEMPRE!!!" The English midfielder enjoyed a stellar performance in Clasico as he starred with a goal and an assist. In the 22nd minute, Bellingham set up Kylian Mbappe with a wonderful pass and then scored a simple tap-in to seal all three points for Alonso's side.

  • De Jong hits out at Madrid players

Following the tense encounter in Madrid, Barca midfield star Frenkie de Jong addressed the ugly incidents between both sets of players and staff, as he told reporters: "I didn't see what happened. I was on the bench and saw a lot of people. When the referee blew his whistle, Real Madrid players went after Lamine. It's a bit exaggerated."

    Yamal's struggles continue

At 17, Yamal won the European Championship while playing a key role in Spain's success. Then in the 2024-25 season, the teenager was the driving force behind Barcelona's run to a domestic treble. His performance for club and country earned him a second-place finish at the Ballon d'Or ceremony behind Ousmane Dembele, while he also won the Kopa Trophy for the second year in a row.

Yamal, unfortunately, has so far failed to replicate his form from last season amid persistent struggles with injury. Yamal has not scored a goal in La Liga since finding the back of the net against Rayo Vallecano in Barcelona's third game of the new season. His poor form continued in El Clásico as he was marked out of the game and hardly came close to scoring a goal.

The Spain international will aim to get back to his best level ahead of Barcelona's upcoming La Liga fixture against Elche on November 2.
