Jesse Lingard takes action! Ex-Man Utd star ditches agent as he seeks new employers after months without a club

A source close to Lingard told Sky Sports, that Lingard has taken the decision to sever ties with his agency due to a number of breakdowns in talks with clubs. Lingard left Nottingham Forest in the summer after one mediocre year at the City Ground and is yet to find a new team. Lingard, a player who once dazzled in the Premier League, has seen his career fade and is hoping a new agent and new club can give him a fresh start.

The source told Sky Sports: "Lingard just wants to play football and has subsequently terminated all ties with his former agents.

"He has decided to end what has been a complex long-term agreement with his former representatives.

"Money is not the driving force and Lingard is growing frustrated that several contract offers and enquiries, since his departure from Nottingham Forest, have failed to develop."

Lingard has failed to maintain the level of performance he reached in spells for Manchester United and then on loan at West Ham, and did not have his contract at Forest extended. Yet, many would argue a player of Lingard's talent should be playing regular football.

Despite this, there is a belief that it is Lingard's application, rather than lack of skill, that is holding him back. Just this week, Manchester United legend Paul Scholes commented on Lingard's Instagram post saying: "Are you just gonna f*ck about in the gym or are you gonna actually play football?"

Lingard remains unattached and without a club. However, the former United player will be hoping a new agent will help him get back to playing football on a regular basis.
