Disappointment for Tom Brady! NFL legend watches on as Birmingham City see trophy dreams ended by Peterborough at Wembley

Minority Birmingham owner Brady was at the famous stadium on Sunday in the hope of seeing his team lift some silverware. However, first-half goals from Harley Mills and Hector Kyprianou saw underdogs Peterborough win this trophy for the second year in a row.

Before the game, Brady sent out a motivational message to his team, saying: "There's a moment in every player's journey when everything, all the sacrifices, pain and endless hours come down to one, final opportunity. So Blues, this is your time. You've earned it, now go make it count. Winning a trophy, it's more than just a prize. It's the culmination of a journey. This is your moment, so take it. Keep right on."

While Birmingham were unable to win this cup, they were confirmed as League One champions on Saturday as Wrexham failed to beat Wigan Athletic. Their ultimate goal was to return to the Championship at the first time of asking and the Blues have done that. But this result will sting for a while.

When the full-time whistle blew, there was some pushing and shoving between the elated Peterborough players and the dejected Birmingham ones as emotions threatened to boil over.

Birmingham will look to bounce back from this loss when they host Crawley Town in League One on Easter Friday (April 18).
