Nurudeen, Issahaku and more: The winners and losers of Ghana's Kirin Cup adventure

The KAS Eupen goalkeeper may&nbsp;have just played his way into Ghana's World Cup squad after making three saves to help the&nbsp;Black Stars beat Chile 3-1 on penalties to clinch bronze.&nbsp;He appeared to be the fourth choice before Tuesday's game but his penalty heroics and the Black Stars' poor record from 12 yards could well push him into the Qatar roster as third-choice goalkeeper behind No.1 Joseph Wollacott and first deputy Richard Ofori.

Winner - Abdul Manaf Nurudeen

Nurudeen's joy could be Ati-Zigi's pain as the latter had until Friday's game been seen as coach Otto Addo's third-choice goalkeeper.&nbsp;A nondescript performance in last week's 4-1 humiliation to Japan and Nurudeen's exploits against Chile could see the former drop to fourth on the pecking order ahead of the World Cup, with only three shot-stoppers set to be picked for the upcoming tournament.&nbsp;

Loser - Lawrence Ati-zigi

The heavily-criticised Crystal Palace striker put in a good shift following his introduction as a second half substitute against Chile but that was not the performance which scored him the most points.&nbsp;Against Japan, the forward registered the Black Stars' consolation goal, driving a shot from outside the box into the net.&nbsp;

Winner - Jordan Ayew

After a disappointing performance against Madagascar and the Central African Republic in 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, it was little surprise that Issahaku was sent out of the first XI for the Japan clash.&nbsp;Back in the line-up against Chile, the Sporting Club youngster still failed to impress despite slightly raising his game, shooting off-target multiple times and giving some faulty passes.&nbsp;He, however, did well to bravely smash home his penalty in the shoot-out.&nbsp;

Loser - Abdul Fatawu Issahaku

The Ajax playmaker failed to score nor assist in Ghana's two matches at the Kirin Cup but still left the competition as arguably the Black Stars' best player.&nbsp;He dazzled in his usual higher attacking midfield role against Japan and performed even better against Chile when he played deeper.&nbsp;

Winner - Mohammed Kudus

Baba missed out of the Japan defeat due to illness but made a return for the Chile clash, starting at his regular left-back position.&nbsp;It was largely a quiet game for the defender, and for a player in a big fight with Bordeaux's Gideon Mensah for the starting left-back spot at&nbsp;the World Cup, his performance should cause little headache for the latter.&nbsp;

Loser - Baba Rahman

Afena's predicament started in the Afcon qualifying matches despite scoring and contributing an assist in the first game against Madagascar.&nbsp;He was unsurprisingly then dropped from the starting team for the Japan encounter but reclaimed his spot, albeit this time at left-wing and not centre-forward, for the tie against Chile.&nbsp;Although he worked tirelessly against La Roja with his&nbsp;runs and created some decent chances, his performance was not enough to silence his growing critics.&nbsp;

Loser - Felix Afena-Gyan
