  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Before Leeds hosted Everton in their Premier League opener, Neville was unaware that Sky Sports' Monday Night Football had returned from the advert break in an awkward hot mic moment. The ex-Red Devils defender showed there was no love lost when it came to old adversary Leeds.

    WHAT NEVILLE SAID

The former England international was caught saying on Sky Sports: "They [Leeds] are the one group of fans I wouldn't want to go anywhere near."

Show host David Jones was seen grabbing his arm, and then a sheepish-looking Neville then laughed and said, "Did you hear that?"

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

While Leeds have not been a regular feature in the Premier League for much of the 21st century, there is still a huge amount of disdain between them and the Red Devils. Although Neville is long retired, he highlighted that this rivalry is far from over, albeit it may have dwindled a tad.

    WHAT NEXT?

Neville's old United side will visit Elland Road themselves on January 3, 2026, in the Premier League, before Leeds head to Old Trafford for the return fixture on April 11. The Yorkshire team will hope they can stay in the division after promotion to the top-flight earlier this year.
