  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Real Madrid's dream move for Mbappe as a free agent has been more of a recurring nightmare for the Frenchman and Los Blancos, as the World Cup winner's struggles continue to go from bad to worse. The 25-year-old has had a slow start to the season under Carlo Ancelotti and has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism, especially after Los Blancos' 2-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield, where Mbappe squandered a penalty that would have brought the Spanish champions level on the night.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mbappe has been a major target for Real Madrid since the 2018 World Cup and his signing was seemingly unequivocally supported by all facets of the club. However, journalist Romain Molina has now revealed that Real Madrid president Perez was the only person at the club who wanted Mbappe at the Bernabeu, and he was not ready to listen to the individuals who opposed his signing.

    DID YOU KNOW?

So far this season for Real Madrid, Mbappe has found the back of the net nine times, with four of those goals coming from the penalty spot. Amid his poor form, Mbappe had reportedly asked Ancelotti to consider starting him on the left of the attack instead of Vinicius Junior. However, against Liverpool, that trick almost completely failed as Mbappe was kept quiet by the Reds' Conor Bradley all night and also missed his penalty.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR MBAPPE?

The Frenchman will likely be a starter yet again for Real Madrid when they take on Getafe at the Bernabeu on Sunday, December 1.
