  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Earlier in the summer, Lopez had attracted interest from English giants Chelsea and United. While the Red Devils were ready to offer £61 million ($70m) to lure the midfielder away from Camp Nou, the Blues were willing to splash £65m ($87m). Amid speculation suggesting the Spain international could leave the club, the 22-year-old has provided an update on his future.

  • WHAT LOPEZ SAID

Speaking to reporters after the Como clash, Lopez said: "Barcelona fans should rest, because I will stay here...I will not leave Barca. It was a game about building confidence, ready for the start of La Liga. The important thing is the team did a very good job."

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Lopez had the spotlight on him recently after posting a cryptic message on social media seemingly directed at Ter Stegen, who has been embroiled in a dispute with Barcelona that he now says has been resolved. Lopez wrote on Instagram: “Bad people never win, nor those who look the other way, nor those who make betrayal their way of life and cowardice their banner. It’s only a matter of time.”

However, he later clarified: “Marc is the first captain, we respect him a lot, what has happened are external things.”
