The giant banner in the stands read: "Maybe you're not the same as me, we won the lot with KDB", a nod to the lasting memories De Bruyne has etched into City’s recent golden era.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Haaland, who arrived in Manchester in 2022, has formed a remarkable understanding with De Bruyne on the field. The Norwegian marksman has benefited immensely from the Belgian’s vision and delivery, with De Bruyne providing assists for 19 of Haaland’s Premier League goals across two seasons.

Speaking before the final, he said: “It’s been a pleasure to play with him. Hopefully, in the last couple of games, we’re going to have a really good time. We clicked straight away from the first second and it’s going to be emotional when a good friend leaves. Maybe the best player ever to play for City – one of the best to play in the Premier League as well.

"Hopefully we can make it a good one in the last few weeks. You really can’t replace a player like him because he’s got something so special with the way he puts the ball into the box. You can see many of my goals are assisted by him and some of them have been ridiculous. We have to make the best out of it and give him a good farewell.”

De Bruyne will aim to collect his 20th trophy in City colours, a staggering tally that reflects his influence since joining from Wolfsburg in 2015. However, both Haaland and De Bruyne have much to do in the second half as they trail by a goal.
