Erik ten Hag wants to retain transfer influence following Sir Jim Ratcliffe takeover despite sanctioning £82m deal for flop Antony

According to ESPN, the Dutch manager wants to continue having the final say in United's transfers following the completion of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's takeover. On Christmas Eve, the club confirmed that they have reached an agreement with the British billionaire whose firm INEOS will acquire a 25% stake in the club and also take control of the club's football operations.

While joining the Red Devils in 2022, the former Ajax boss had a clause inserted in his contract that allowed him to veto transfer decisions and reportedly he wants the club to continue honouring that, even though Ratcliffe and INEOS director of sports Sir Dave Brailsford will head the football operations.

The new minority stakeholder of the club is expected to meet the 53-year-old coach and his staff very soon and the Dutchman remains confident that he will continue as the club's manager despite his position coming under scrutiny following a series of poor results.

The former Bayern Munich assistant coach has received criticism for signing Antony from Ajax for a whopping £82m ($103.5m) which has proved to be a disastrous signing. It remains to be seen if Ratcliffe allows him to have the final word on future United recruitment decisions.
