  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Dutch manager revealed that the left-back is ready for competitive action after completing his rehab from a thigh injury that had sidelined him for three months. Meanwhile, Onana is also ready to take on the Toffees after successfully overcoming a groin injury that he picked up during the World Cup qualifier against Mauritius. However, Hojlund's availability remains uncertain after he tweaked his right hamstring against Luton which forced him to withdraw from the Denmark squad for the two fixtures against Slovenia and Northern Ireland.

  • WHAT TEN HAG SAID ABOUT SHAW, ONANA & HOJLUND

Speaking to reporters, Ten Hag said: "Luke Shaw will be available for Sunday, he will be in the squad. You can mention many things. You can mention his physicality, his technical ability, and his leadership, it's clear. For a long time in the season, we didn't have a left-back. We are very happy he's back, it's a good sign. He will help us be more stable, I am sure of that."

When pressed about the status of Hojlund and Onana, he added: "Rasmus is a close finish. He's training, he finished outside. He’s making very good steps and we have to wait until tomorrow and we will make a final decision. Andre is okay, he stepped in training today, and he's good."

WHAT TEN HAG SAID ABOUT UNITED'S BUSY SCHEDULE

United are staring at a busy schedule with three games in the next week starting with their journey to Merseyside on Saturday. Then they will take a longer flight to Turkey to face Galatasaray and upon returning will set sail for Newcastle for another fixture on the road. However, Ten Hag assured that his troops were ready for the impending rigours and he has already chalked a blueprint to deal with it.

“Well we got started today early and then we see how condensed the week ahead is with three away games in six days,” Ten Hag said. "We have to deal with that. We have a plan and have studied for it. We’ve made the players aware they have to take responsibility. It’s about co-operation.”
