Erik ten Hag wants another Ajax star! Man Utd boss keeping tabs on forward Brian Brobbey as competition for struggling Rasmus Hojlund

Ten Hag is looking at options to boost his team's attack in the summer transfer window and sees the 21-year-old as a possible target, according to The Mirror. The Dutch coach gave Brobbey his senior debut at Ajax before the forward left for RB Leipzig in a free transfer, only to return to the Dutch giants on loan before completing a permanent transfer back to Amsterdam.

United hoped to bring in a new forward in the January window to compete with Rasmus Hojlund but do not have the funds to sign Brobbey this month. Anthony Martial is expected to leave Old Trafford in the summer window, freeing up a place and possibly funds to bring in Brobbey.

United may face competition to the signing of Brobbey from Premier League rivals Arsenal, though the north London club could end up acting on their interest in Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee instead, who is expected to cost around £50 million ($64m).

The Red Devils may look to bring in some new signings over the course of the month as they look to improve on what has been an inconsistent season so far, although these will likely be restricted to loan moves. Having crashed out of Europe already, Ten Hag's team are currently eighth in the Premier League after 20 matches.
