David de Gea reduces massive salary demands to agree one-year contract as ex-Man Utd goalkeeper finally finds a new club after long spell as free agent

Per multiple reports, ex-Red Devils star De Gea, who has remained a free agent for over a year, is all set to join Serie A side Fiorentina this summer. The custodian has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Italian club as he considerably reduced his salary demand and is all set to earn €2 million (£1.6m/$2m) per season, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 33-year-old was earlier linked with a move to another Serie A club Genoa, however, the deal reportedly collapsed due to his 'unrealistic salary expectations'. Several Saudi Pro League and MLS clubs were also keen on signing signing this summer, but none of the deals materialised.

The veteran custodian joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2011 and went on to make 545 appearances for the Premier League giants - winning the Premier League, the FA Cup, two Carabao Cups and a Europa League title.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Spaniard is expected to reach Florence on Friday before formally completing his move to Italy. He will sign a one-year contract with an option to extend it for another 12 months.
