Palmer has taken the Premier League by storm this season after completing a move from Manchester City last summer. He has contributed to 40 Chelsea goals in the current campaign having scored 26 and provided 14 assists across all competitions.

The youngster's sudden rise in form has left Blues captain Reece James in awe of the former City star as he claimed that the English attacker is already among the top players in the world. The 22-year-old's on-field performance has been duly recognised by the Premier League as he has been nominated for this year's Premier League Player of the Season award.

Speaking to Sky Sports, James said, "Cole Palmer is one of the best in the world, I think personally. At City, he didn't play as much as he would like but he has come here and taken the chance with both hands."

Palmer was left blushing after hearing praises from the club captain as he responded by saying, "I wouldn't go that far! But it's nice to hear. It's all new to me. This is my first season playing properly in the league. It was a very important win and now we focus on the next one."

The player will be next seen in action on Wednesday as Mauricio Pochettino's side face Brighton in an important Premier League fixture.
