The winger reflected on the team's poor performance, but expressed optimism on the future of the team, in a press conference Friday, in advance of AC Milan's friendly against Manchester City Saturday night in New York.

"It was disappointing to exit as early as we did. I've had a lot of time to think about it," he said. "Obviously, for me, it was important to also take the time off and take some rest. It was a long season, and now my focus is here, 100%. Obviously, some things will change with the national team and, you know, a new coach on the way, or whatever, but I'll worry about that in the international windows.

"I'm excited to be here. I got some good rest, and I'm really just ready to get started. Obviously, we have a lot of games ahead this season."

The USMNT fired Gregg Berhalter after the Copa America, and have since been on the lookout for a new head coach. Jurgen Klopp reportedly turned down the job in early July, while Patrick Viera and Steve Cherundolo, among others, have both been linked.
