  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The rumour mill has been fed with speculation linking the Blues with a move for Sancho. The West London side are working tirelessly to revamp their squad but have been struggling to offload several players, including superstars such as Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell, which has led to a bloated squad.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Despite Chelsea's interest, Juventus appears to have taken the lead in the race to sign Sancho. It has been reported that the Italian giants have reached an agreement to secure the 24-year-old's services on a loan deal with an obligation for Juventus to make the transfer permanent next summer. Sancho is also said to be enthusiastic about the move, preferring a fresh start in Serie A after a tumultuous time at Manchester United.

  • WHAT ENZO MARESCA SAID

When asked about the possibility of signing the England international, Maresca said: "If we can sign a player that can help us, for sure I would. Jadon is not our player. I know him very well. But he is not our player."

His comments have seemingly left the door open for a potential move while also recognising the challenges involved.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

One of the key factors that may have prevented Chelsea from securing Sancho is their ongoing struggle to offload Sterling. The Blues had reportedly engaged in discussions with Manchester United about a possible swap deal involving the two wingers. However, Juventus' rapid progress in offloading Federico Chiesa to Liverpool allowed them to move quickly for Sancho, leaving Chelsea in their wake.

    WHAT NEXT?

Now, with the transfer to Juventus looming, Sancho is set to close the chapter on his Premier League career and embark on a new journey in Italy. Meanwhile, Chelsea will focus on other targets with Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney being linked with them.
