Carlos Vela to return to Real Sociedad? La Liga side looking to bring back out-of-contract MLS star from LAFC

AS report that the ex-Mexico international is wanted by a plethora of sides, but Real Sociedad - the club where he made 213 appearances over six years - are pushing hard for the LAFC star. The one-time MLS MVP is out-of-contract after six years of service where he won two MLS Supporters' Shields, an MLS Cup and a Golden Boot award.

Real Sociedad sit sixth in La Liga and are looking to bolster their ranks for a push towards a European spot. They are seven points out of contention to begin the new year, and the club hierarchy believes Vela could help them out. However, they are not the only suitors for the Mexican star. The report adds that Liga MX side Crux Azul have handed Vela a tantalizing offer, and that Sociedad cannot match the finances of the deal.

Despite being considered one of the greatest Mexican players of all time, Vela has not represented his national team since 2018. He retired from international soccer after the World Cup that year in Russia.

The MLS star will have to go about the decision process now, choosing whether to return to his former club, re-sign with LAFC or another MLS side, or even venture back to his home country, where an offer already sits.
