  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The German club have asked to be kept up to date on Sancho's situation, with the Man Utd outcast being touted as a possible replacement for Chelsea target Jamie Gittens, as per Sky Sports. Sancho has already re-joined the club from Manchester United once - a six-month loan spell at the end of last season - and could yet return for a third spell with the German giants. Chelsea paid a penalty fine to avoid their obligation to sign Sancho permanently themselves, and believe Gittens is a better bet for their attack.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sancho did well on loan at Dortmund last season and played an important role in helping the club reach the Champions League final against Real Madrid. The club could not reach an agreement with United after the loan spell and Sancho joined Chelsea. The winger had a frustrating year at Stamford Bridge but did score in the Europa Conference League final victory over Real Betis for the Blues.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Sancho first joined Dortmund from Manchester City as a teenager in 2017. He went on to make 104 Bundesliga appearances for the club, scoring 38 goals in the process. On loan last season, he added a further two goals in 14 Bundesliga games.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SANCHO?

Sancho's future hangs in the balance. If Dortmund step up their interest, they could add Sancho to their squad in time for the Club World Cup. The German side take on Fluminense in their opening game of the tournament.
