Best of Africa 100: Introducing Africa’s greatest Premier League players

At the Best of Africa Awards ceremony in London on Sunday, the BoA 100 was unveiled, celebrating the top hundred African players to have featured in the Premier League.
The list is a who’s who of the continental greats to have graced the English game, including both those whose legends were built in the Premier League, and those who spent time on British soil but whose reputations were truly forged overseas.

Over the course of the week, Goal will reveal the BoA 100, including the first ten names below.

Senegalese midfielder who represented West Ham United and Newcastle United.

Mohamed Diame

Africa Cup of Nations winner, who had a brief spell in the English game with West Ham United.

Emmanuel Emenike

Towering Senegal defender who spent nine years in the English game with Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle, Stoke City, Hull City and West Ham.

Abdoulaye Faye

Evergreen Sierra Leone forward who spent time in England with Norwich City and Middlesbrough before going on to star in Major League Soccer.

Kei Kamara

Cameroon international who was a Greek champion with Olympiacos, having spent time with Aston Villa after making his name with Olympique Lyonnais and LOSC Lille.

Jean Makoun

Powerful Congolese striker who enjoyed one campaign with Blackburn Rovers amidst spells with AS Roma, Galatasaray and AS Monaco.

Shabani Nonda

Liberia international striker, and a double winner with Arsenal in 1997-98. Wreh is currently assistant coach of the Lone Stars national team.

Christopher Wreh

Former Ghana and Nottingham Forest striker who passed away, tragically, earlier this year, Agogo starred for the Black Stars at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.

Junior Agogo

South Africa international midfielder, formerly with Fulham, Crystal Palace and Cardiff City, who represented his country at two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and the 2010 World Cup on home soil.

Kagisho Dikgacoi

Playmaker who moved to England after time with Paris Saint-Germain, featuring in the top flight for Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion. He rolled back the years to represent Benin at the Afcon earlier this year.
