  • England captain left Spurs for Germany
  • Prolific start has already broken records
  • On course to better iconic Bayern No.9
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The England captain completed a €100 million (£86m/$108m) transfer to the Allianz Arena from Premier League giants Tottenham during the summer transfer window. His prolific strike rate suggested that he was always going to get goals with Bayern, but he has exceeded expectations by netting 22 times through 19 appearances in all competitions.

    WHAT BASLER SAID ABOUT KANE

Included in that haul are 18 strikes in the Bundesliga, leaving Kane 23 efforts adrift of Lewandowski’s division-best return of 41. Ex-Bayern star Mario Basler has told The Sun of Kane chasing down a piece of history: “Harry will be a Bayern great, one of the best strikers to ever play for the club. He can smash Lewandowski’s record. Up front, Bayern are very strong, with Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman and Kane, who is a goal machine.”

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Kane has already broken records with Tottenham and England – becoming the all-time leading scorer for both – and is showing no sign of slowing down at 30 years of age. He committed to a four-year contract when linking up with Bayern, leaving him with plenty of time in which to try and better Lewandowski.

    WHAT NEXT FOR KANE?

Kane’s next outing is set to see him return to English shores, with Bayern readying themselves for a Champions League meeting with Manchester United at Old Trafford that could see them dump the Red Devils out of European competition for 2023-24.
