  • WHAT HAPPENED?

According to Sky, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl is not seeking a direct replacement for Coman but has identified Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson as potential signings. Nkunku’s agent Pini Zahavi, who also represents former Bayern winger Leroy Sane, could help the club leverage negotiations to bring the Frenchman to Munich. Other targets include Lyon’s Malick Fofana, Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade, and RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Bayern are set to undergo a complete restructure in attack, with Coman’s sale to Al-Nassr part of the overhaul. Thomas Muller’s departure to Vancouver Whitecaps and Jamal Musiala’s injury during the Club World Cup have left the squad short of attacking options. The club have already secured former Liverpool winger Luis Diaz but are now looking for a backup option to support striker Harry Kane.

Jackson is ready to give up on his Stamford Bridge career and could replace Alexander Isak at Newcastle while Nkunku has been offered to RB Leipzig, though he would rather play in the Champions League.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Bayern are close to dropping their pursuit of Germany striker Woltemade, with negotiations at a standstill for weeks. Eberl says the deal is "off the table" while Stuttgart have insisted that if he is still at the club when the DFL-Supercup - against Bayern - kicks off on Saturday, he will not be sold this year. Bayern also face stiff competition for Simons, as Chelsea are also in the race for the Dutchman.

    WHAT NEXT FOR BAYERN ?

Bayern will hope to secure a deal for one of their targets in the final days of the transfer window, as the market heats up with the commencement of the 2025-26 season.
