  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Austin FC are finalizing plans to sign Brandon Vazquez from Monterrey in a deal worth more than $6 million, GiveMeSport'sTom Bogert reported. The No. 9, who has scored four goals in 11 appearances for the USMNT, is set to serve as the starting center forward for Austin.

    Vazquez established himself as a consistent goalscorer in his first year with Monterrey, finding the net 14 times. San Jose Earthquakes were also reportedly in the running for the forward - but the Texas side have reportedly done enough to get the deal over the line.

    WHAT NEXT FOR VAZQUEZ?

    The USMNT forward is set for his MLS move in the coming weeks. Preseason will start in mid January, with the regular season slated for a Feb. 22 opening.
