Arsenal midfielder heading for shock exit? Jorginho holds talks with Brazilian side Palmeiras ahead of contract expiry

According to ESPN, Joao Santos, the Italian international's agent, is actively evaluating potential opportunities for his client, with Jorginho’s current deal set to conclude at the end of the season. Although he has already initiated talks with Palmeiras, there have been no formal offers on the table yet.

Jorginho desires to explore a fresh chapter in his career, particularly as his role at Arsenal has diminished. With the possibility of a move to Brazil gaining traction, he is reportedly drawn to the competitive nature of South American football. He is also said to be keeping an eye on clubs that will feature in the 2025 Club World Cup, which is set to take place in the United States, as GOAL understands.

While the Sao Paulo-based side view the midfielder as a positive addition, they are also closely evaluating his physical condition to ensure he meets their requirements. Additionally, Palmeiras are prioritising their pursuit of Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira, with the club awaiting a response from Marco Silva’s team regarding his availability.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta recently acknowledged the looming contract situations of both Jorginho and team-mate Thomas Partey, whose deals are set to expire in less than six months. However, he expressed his intention to postpone discussions regarding contract renewals until later in the season. Sources suggest Arsenal may only offer Jorginho a one-year extension, mirroring the terms he received last season, whereas, the Italian is believed to favour a longer deal.
