  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Gunners are said to be in the market for more firepower as Mikel Arteta looks to keep them in another Premier League title race. Isak, as a proven performer in the English top-flight and a man with 15 goals to his name this season, is said to figure prominently on the recruitment radar at Emirates Stadium.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

According to the Daily Mail, Isak’s representatives are aware of the interest from north London. It is, however, being claimed that Arsenal do not have the funds to finance what would be a British transfer record deal - one worth more than the £115 million ($141m) than Chelsea paid for Moises Caicedo in 2023.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

The Gunners are not under any threat from Financial Fair Play (FFP) or Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), but need to ensure that they adhere to those regulations. With that in mind, no offers for Isak - in January or the summer of 2025 - will be possible unless there is a significant departure first that generates a sizeable fee and clears a big wage off the books.

    WHAT NEXT?

Newcastle have no intention of parting with Isak anyway, as they have him tied to a contract through to 2028, and insist that no price tag has been placed on a Sweden international that they hope to see enjoy a bright long-term future at St James’ Park.
