Hope for Antony! Real Betis to appeal Man Utd loanee's red card for reckless lunge in bid to have winger available for Real Madrid clash

The Manchester United loanee was dismissed in second-half stoppage time for his challenge on Getafe's Juan Iglesias but Betis held on for a 2-1 La Liga win on Sunday. Now, Marca claims the Spanish outfit will appeal this decision in a bid to have him free to face Madrid at the weekend. Betis have analysed the footage and feel Antony "barely touched" Iglesias and did not deserve a straight red card.

Despite this setback for Antony, the 25-year-old has been in superb form since joining Betis on loan from United in late January. The Brazilian has three goals and two assists in just six appearances in all competitions for Los Verdiblancos. The ex-Ajax man is being lauded at Betis, which starkly contrasts his time at United.

Antony's sending off at the Coliseum in Getafe was the first straight red card he has received in his entire professional career, but he has been dismissed for two yellow cards on two other occasions.

Betis, who are up to seventh in La Liga, host second-placed Madrid on Saturday evening. It remains to be seen if Antony will have his ban overturned.
