Andre Onana is gone! Man Utd flop joins Trabzonspor on loan in wake of Senne Lammens signing as Ruben Amorim ditches former No.1

The 29-year-old stopper has clocked up 102 appearances in a United shirt since being prised away from Inter Milan for a staggering £48 million. But after two seasons littered with mistakes and criticism, the club has decided a reset is necessary.

United put out a statement which read: "Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has joined Trabzonspor on loan for the duration of the 2025/26 season, subject to international clearance and registration. The move has been completed ahead of the Turkish transfer window closing on Friday. We would like to wish Andre good luck."

United have already moved to reshape their goalkeeping department. After being linked with Aston Villa’s World Cup winner Emiliano Martínez and PSG’s Champions League hero Gianluigi Donnarumma, the club eventually settled on Belgian youngster Senne Lammens. 

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the loan deal to Trabzonspor contains no option to buy and there will be no loan fee as well. This means the move is strictly about rebuilding form and regaining composure, rather than an outright parting of ways. United are keeping the door ajar for a potential return, though his long-term prospects at Old Trafford remain murky.

Lammens arrives with promise but faces enormous pressure as he prepares to stake his claim for the coveted No.1 shirt. His first test could not be tougher; a Manchester derby clash against Pep Guardiola’s men on Sunday.
