  • WHAT HAPPENED?

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juve are planning to sell Weah and Samuel Mbangula to Nottingham Forest for a combined fee of €25 million (£21m/$29m). The American forward was left out of the matchday squad against Manchester City in the Club World Cup in an attempt to pressure him to agree to the move, offending his agent, Badou Sambague, who was unhappy with how the Italian club is treating his player.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

When the news of Weah and Mbangula's possible transfer to England broke, the two players posted cryptic messages on social media, showing their displeasure and reluctance to join Forest. However, with good money involved and Juve needing to raise funds, it seems the Italian side are attempting to motivate the players to accept the offer.

  • WHAT SAMBAGUE SAID

After Weah was left out of the Juve squad, Sambague said: "It's a disgrace. Weah is a fantastic player and fantastic team-mate. To see people acting like this for money and because they are selfish has disappointed me a lot.”

Sambague added on his commitment towards his player: "Anyway, while I'm here, nobody will push one of the players I advise to go on the right or on the left like a puppet. I am happy that Tim has a top education and a top personality that allows him to stay focused on the game."

City scored five goals against Igor Tudor's side to seal the victory and top Group G with nine points. However, the Italian club still have a shot at the title, having progressed to the round of 16 after securing the second spot and will face Real Madrid on July 2.
