Zuma: Khoza should appoint Benni McCarthy as Orlando Pirates coach

Legendary Orlando Pirates forward Sibusiso Zuma has urged the club to appoint Benni McCarthy as the new permanent head coach.

The Buccaneers are set to make an announcement regarding the coaching job next week Monday and McCarthy is one of the people, who have been linked with the position.

Zuma has since backed his former South Africa teammate McCarthy, who recently received his Uefa A Licence, which is the second highest coaching certificate in European football.

"I’ll be very happy if they can give my boy a chance, Benni,” Zuma told Sport24.

“We need to start trusting our players because I think we believe more in people we don’t know, people who have never played football," he continued.

“We’ll go and get someone in Bulgaria that we don’t know nothing about," the retired midfielder-come-striker added.

“Let’s give our people a chance. I’m voting for him [McCarthy as Pirates head coach],” Zuma concluded.

Pirates club chairman Irvin Khoza recently stated that McCarthy must follow the procedure by applying for the coaching job.
