Ghana defender Phil Ofosu-Ayeh has agreed a three-year deal to join Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers from Eintracht Braunschweig as a free agent, according to Kicker.

The 25-year-old turned down an offer from the Bundesliga 2 side to extend his contract which will expire next month.

With Wolves failing to gain promotion to the top-flight last season after finishing 15th in the Championship under former boss Paul Lambert, the club is in the market to strengthen their squad before new manager Nuno Santo takes over in the new campaign.

The Ghanaian began his career with SV Wilhelmshaven in Germany before playing for FC Rot-Weib Erfurt and VfR Aalen, arriving at Braunschweig in 2015 and helping the team to a third place finish last season.

He earned his maiden Black Stars call-up in October 2015 when Ghana shared the spoils 1-1 with Canada in an international friendly in the USA. However, he is yet to earn another invitation to the national team.
