The Matildas superstar resisted two European giants in favour of a return to Perth

There's no place like home for Sam Kerr and that fact has seen the Matildas striker turn down offers from both Barcelona and Chelsea

The Australian superstar has instead opted for a return to Perth Glory in the W-League with one eye firmly on the 2019 World Cup in France.

While eager to test herself in Europe, the timing just wasn't right for Kerr, who admits she could well stay in the W-League for awhile longer.

"Honestly, the thing that eliminated every club other than Glory was the fact I feel most comfortable at home," Kerr told Fairfax Media.

"I play my best football when I'm at home.

"I wasn't going to change anything up going into a World Cup, but who's to say I'll change it up before the Olympics?

"I could definitely be back next year because I hate change."

Another small factor in Kerr's decision to stay put and resist a call from the Catalans is the fact she's actually a Real Madrid fan.

Kerr revealing the Barcelona offer wasn't quite as significant as a result and that she preferred Chelsea's out of the two.

"I'm a Real Madrid fan, so it doesn't really mean anything to me," she said.

"I was honestly leaning more towards Chelsea, when I was thinking of those two, just based off what fit me best."
