Jose Mourinho's side had to settle for second place in Group A, however, with Fenerbahce claiming victory away at Feyenoord in the group's other fixture.

The standings mean the Red Devils will be unseeded going into the draw, which takes place at 13:00CET on Monday 12 December, and can be drawn against any of the following:

Ajax, APOEL, Besiktas, Fiorentina, Kobenhavn, Lyon, Osmanlıspor, Roma, Schalke, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sparta Praha, St-Etienne, and Zenit.

Fenerbahce and Tottenham are also included in the seeded teams, though rules state that no team can be drawn against a group opponent or a club from the same country.

Games will be played in principle on Thursdays 16 and 23 February, with the exact schedule confirmed after the draw. Seeded teams will be at home in the second leg.
