Despite letting the lead slip three times in a 3-3 draw with Shanghai SIPG on Wednesday night, Sydney FC coach Steve Corica was left impressed by his side's performance and believes that sort of display would destroy any A-League team.
The Sky Blues were underdogs against the reigning Chinese Super League champions but held their own at Jubilee and should have secured all three points only to concede in the dying minutes.
While the result leaves Sydney FC's ACL campaign in the balance, the performance has Corica full of confidence as the A-League enters the final stretch.
"I think if we play like that against any A-League team we'll destroy them," Corica said.
"That's what we want, we've improved, we're getting better, we've got players back now, we have good options off the bench.
"I think we proved a lot of people wrong. We put a great performance on for our home crowd, we played well, we scored goals, we conceded too many but for the fans, it was a great game.
"I'm very pleased with the performance and really in our two home games we should have picked up more points than we have but we played outstandingly well."
Sydney FC currently sit bottom of Group H with two draws and one loss from their opening three games in the ACL - two of which have been on home soil.
That return leaves them with a hill to climb to progress to the knockout stages with their next game to come against SIPG in Shanghai on April 23.
