VIDEO: Lyon fans taunt St Etienne with Fekir shirt celebration tribute

The France international's Lionel Messi-inspired celebration has resonated with the fans at Parc OL

Lyon's star player Nabil Fekir prompted a furious reaction from St Etienne fans earlier this month when he provocatively celebrated a goal in front of them.

Mimicking Lionel Messi, the France international removed his shirt and displayed it, leading a group of fans to invade the pitch in protest.

And the 24-year-old will be pleased to learn he has plenty of support at Parc OL after fans staged a tribute during their 0-0 draw with Montpellier on Sunday.

Fekir has scored 11 goals in 11 Ligue 1 games and his form for Les Gones has earned attention from a host of clubs across Europe.

With that in mind, Lyon fans will hope that their tribute may go some way toward persuading him to stick around!
