The Jamaican star wasn't expected to play but has been named in the travelling party

Australian football fans could be about to get a second look at Usain Bolt after the Olympic champion was named in the Central Coast Mariners squad for a friendly against NPL side Wollongong on Friday.

The Mariners had been coy about whether triallist Bolt would play in the match at WIN Stadium, with it appearing the club was likely to hold back the sprinter to continue his football development.

But in a social media announcement designed for maximum impact, the Mariners revealed on Wednesday Bolt would be travelling to Wollongong and be a part of the squad.

Intriguingly, Bolt earlier denied he would be playing in the match when asked on Optus Sport by presenter Richard Bayliss in the presence of Wolves assistant coach Michael Bridges.

It will be Bolt's second match in Mariners colours having made his debut in front of nearly 10,000 people in a exhibition match at the end of August.

He will again be given the number 95 jersey - which has special significance with the current 100m record of 9.58 he set in 2009.

The match will kickoff at 7.30pm with tickets available through Ticketmaster here.
