Ulinzi Stars striker leading chase for Golden Boot

Ulinzi Stars striker Stephen Waruru is still leading in the Kenyan Premier League top scorers with eight goals after the first leg round of matches.

Nakumatt’s Kepha Aswani is second with six goals, one better than AFC Leopard’s Gilbert Fiamenyo. But with news that Aswani may leave for Oman and Fiamenyo set to sit out for the rest of the season, Waruru will feel no pressure for the Golden Boot race.

Fiamenyo asked for time off for the remainder of the season to nurse injury that has been nagging for the better part of the first season.

If Aswani pulls a move to the Gulf nation, Waruru will only have Meddie Kagere (Gor Mahia), Boniface Omondi (Nzoia Sugar), Dennis Mukaisi (Posta Rangers), Chrispine Oduor (Mathare United), Shami Kibwana (Thika United), Amos Asembeka (Sony Sugar) to worry about in the race for the award.
