U-17 World Cup: Gideon Acquah flummoxed by a question on Golden Boot!

The 17-year-old left everyone in splits with his reply to a question asked by a scribe who hadn’t done his homework on the Ghana team…

Ghana take on Colombia in their opening Group A fixture on Friday evening at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi.

The African giants brought Gideon Acquah for the pre-match briefing. Interestingly, he was asked by a journalist on whether he has set a target of how many goals he wishes to score and if he wants to win the Golden Boot award in the Under-17 World Cup.

The journalist mistook him for Eric Ayiah and Gideon replied in all seriousness stating, “Anyway if I win I will be happy even though I am a defender. I will be happy if I win the golden boot award!”

He also mentioned of Ghana’s desire to win the World Cup.

“We are well prepared. We are here to showcase our talent. We are here to prove to the world that we are still the leaders. For this tournament, we want to be the champion,” he commented.
