The Nations Cup returnee netted his seventh strike of the season for his Serie A side

Senegal starlet Keita Balde came from the bench to clinch Lazio a 2-1 win at relegation-threatened Empoli on Saturday in the Serie A.

This was the attacker’s second strike in three outings since returning from the Nations Cup where he also caught the eye with his impressive performances in only his maiden major tournament with the Teranga Lions.

Empoli opened the scoring through midfielder Rade Krunic's rising effort midway through the second half, but Ciro Immobile equalized instantly for Lazio before substitute Balde fired home the winner from inside the box in the 80th minute.

The Spanish born attacker has now reached his career best of seven goals as he continues with the form that has seen him attract interest from Liverpool, Arsenal and AC Milan amongst others.

The three points saw Lazio leapfrog Inter Milan into fifth place and they also stretched their unbeaten run -in all competitions -to four matches, while Empoli have lost three of their last four league matches.

Compatriots, Assane El Hadji and Mame Thiam featured for Azzurri alongside fellow Afcon returnee – Moroccan Omar El Kaddour.

Recent reports have suggested that the Barcelona academy graduate –Balde who is capable of playing as a central or wide attacking forward- has also caught the attention of Pemeir League giants, Chelsea.

The 21-year-old endured a tempestuous start to the season with Biancocelesti after he requested to leave the club in the summer, this was later followed by his rant on Twitter.
