Real Madrid president Florentino Perez warned Cristiano Ronaldo that he would buy Lionel Messi for €200 million if the forward left to join PSG, according to France Football.

The magazine reports that, in a secret text message sent to a friend back in 2012, Ronaldo reveals that he wants to join the Ligue 1 side and that it would improve his chances of winning the Ballon d'Or.

And when the Portuguese apparently communicates that desire to Perez in a meeting, the Madrid chief tells him that, if he finds a club willing to pay €200m, he'll activate Messi's Barcelona release clause with the cash.

Manchester United are interested in striking a deal for Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The 28-year-old has just 18 months remaining on his current agreement at Spurs and has a £25 million release clause written into it, with United now monitoring the situation ahead of the summer.

Alderweireld, who has stalled on signing an extension at Tottenham, does have a one-year extension written into his current contract, however, which is scheduled to be triggered in the summer of 2019.

Ederson joined City from Benfica last summer on a five-year contract and a salary reportedly worth around £70,000 a week.

Despite his versatility, the January signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal is expected to only diminish Rashford's playing time even further.

Real Madrid had a secret deal in place to sign Kylian Mbappe from Monaco in 2017, according to France Football.

The 19-year-old forward, who would eventually move to PSG, was a top target for Madrid, who had apparently agreed a €180 million deal with Mbappe's former club Monaco.

Despite the Liga club being an attractive proposition for the player, Mbappe, along with his parents, was reportedly never told about the proposed transfer and thus, if only temporarily, decided to stay at Monaco.

Jose Mourinho's new contract at Manchester United has ended any chance of Cristiano Ronaldo rejoining the Red Devils, according to Le10Sport .

But Ronaldo will not be making a return to Old Trafford, as he does not want to work under Mourinho again after the two had a falling out at the end of the United manager's time at Real Madrid.
