Niger Tornadoes players and officials have arrived in Abuja where they are expected to stay for three days before hitting Ilorin, venue of their Nigeria Professional Football League opener against Kwara United.
Reuben Ogbonnaya revealed that they got to Abuja after Wednesday training sessions and that will finalise the build-up to the encounter with the Harmony Boys in the Federal Capital Terrritory.
He also pointed out that the appointment of Erasmus Onuh as a new coach has not changed many things in the team as they go in search of silverware this term.
“We are in Abuja as I speak with you. We got here after our training sessions today (Wednesday). We will leave here in the next three days or thereabouts. We are here to further our training regimen and also fine tune our preparations for the game we are expecting a positive result," he told Goal.
“We are still one Niger Tornadoes in spite of the recent changes and we are going to prove that when we hit the pitch from Sunday.
“We have a new coach but he is not entirely new to some of us. We are learning his philosophy very fast and by the time we are going to play our first game, a true picture of our game pattern will have evolved.
“We will do our best to give everything we have to ensure that we get a result in Ilorin."
