Thika United and Wazito in action as race to avoid relegation from KPL hots up

Only twelve Kenyan Premier League teams will be in action as the top tier hits Round 31 this weekend.

With Gor Mahia already crowned, the main battle lies at the bottom of the table where about four teams are fighting to remain in the league beyond this season. Vihiga United, who are placed in the 15th position, are not yet safe. Only the goal difference makes them safer.

Vihiga United will play against Posta Rangers; a team they drew 0-0 with in the first leg. Posta Rangers do not have much to play for, but they will want to finish in a respectable position and that might prompt them to give their best.

Another entertaining fixture will be between bottom placed Thika United, who will be away against relegation threatened Nzoia Sugar. Eleven points separate the two sides, but the latter is just three points off the relegation zone and a win might seal their stay on the top tier for another season. If Thika United loses, the race might be as good as over for them.

Bandari will be aiming at sealing their position behind champions Gor Mahia with a win against Nakumatt at Mbaraki, Mombasa. Other matches will be Sony Sugar against Chemelil Sugar at Awendo Green Stadium, and that of Zoo Kericho against another relegation threatened candidate in Wazito FC.
