Success hasn't come without some personal sacrifice in Perth

After seeing Perth Glory finish eighth last season, defender Scott Neville and his fiancee couldn't be blamed for deciding to schedule their wedding the same weekend as this season's grand final.

But with the arrival of Tony Popovic, Neville and his partner quickly realised they'd have to alter their plans.

Perth's initially unexpected success costing the happy couple $2000 after they'd already sent out some premature wedding invites.

“I didn’t see the dominance coming but as soon as Tony Popovic was announced I told my dad that I think we’re going to have a very good year this year,” Neville told TAB Radio.

“We actually had our wedding planned for the weekend of the grand final, and I obviously told my missus you’re going to have to change that. She said ‘You sure? I don’t reckon after last season’.

"I said, 'Trust me, you’re going to have to change that'.

“She sent out save the dates, we brought them back in and then another $2000 worth of little rubbish invites and lucky we changed the date.”

Glory, of course, haven't booked their place in the A-League decider just yet but will host a semi-final and loom as Championship favourites considering their strong regular season.

Popovic leading Perth to their first Premiers' Plate as they finished their campaign with a 5-0 thrashing of Wellington Phoenix.
