The battle for PSL title is far from over, says Kaizer Chiefs star Masilela

The 31-year-old experienced left-back indicated that Amakhosi are targeting a league and Cup double

Kaizer Chiefs defender Tsepo Masilela strongly believes that the battle for this season's Premier Soccer League (PSL) title is far from over.

Amakhosi reignited their title hopes after stunning the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 at the FNB Stadium on Saturday night.

As a result the Soweto giants are placed second on the league table - two points behind the leaders Bidvest Wits, who have two games in hand.

"Look, our victory over Sundowns was a much-needed one and there is no doubt that it has re-energised our league titles hopes," Masilela told Vodacom Soccer.

"But the fact is that the battle is still far from over, as we still have eight crucial games to play," he said.

"This is a very crucial stage of the season, so more consistency and cautious approach in each game will be vital for us in our remaining games," he added.

Masilela and his Chiefs teammates will take on ABC Motsepe side Acornbush United in the Nedbank Cup last 16 game in Mpumalanga on Sunday.

"As much as we prioritise the league title contention, we are aiming for a strong run in the Nedbank Cup with equal importance," Masilela stressed.

"Going to Saturday's clash against Acornbush, we will go all out for a battle because we know they are bound to give a fight most especially on their home turf," he continued.

"But we are prepared to fight for a vital win and advance to the tournament's next round," Masilela concluded.
