Suspended Bielsa summoned to Lille meeting as future hangs in the balance

The Argentine's position as head coach of the Ligue 1 outfit may soon be cleared up after he met with club officials on Wednesday

Marcelo Bielsa was summoned to a meeting with Lille officials on Wednesday for "an interview prior to a possible dismissal", according to a statement on the club's website.

The club suspended head coach Bielsa following Lille's 3-0 defeat to Amiens and he missed the team's subsequent 3-0 loss at Montpellier on Saturday.

Following a tumultuous first six months in charge for Bielsa, Lille had just three wins from their first 14 games prior to Wednesday's visit to Lyon.

Bielsa's legal advisor, Carlo Brusa, told AFP that the Argentine coach had "tasked professionals with the safeguarding and defence of his interests", and the club's statement came in response to that announcement.

"In view of Mr Marcelo Bielsa's recent communication regarding his legal action against his employer, LOSC has to provide some details about the current procedure," read the statement.

"Marcelo Bielsa has been summoned to an interview prior to a possible dismissal to be held Wednesday, November 29, with suspension as a precautionary measure for the duration of the procedure.

"If the breach of contract procedure continues, he will then be summoned before the Legal Affairs Committee of the LFP, on the initiative of LOSC, as the professional football charter stipulates.

"LOSC and its leaders are keen to assert that they have respected and will abide by the rules and procedures applicable in this matter."
