Yanga SC pulled what is becoming a common practice by most African clubs when they turned down transport means offered to them by host Gor Mahia on superstition grounds.

The visitors refused to board the bus and instead, hoped into public transport from the JKIA to their hotel. The drama unfolded on Monday night after Yanga touched down in Nairobi ahead of their crucial Caf Confederation Cup clash on Wednesday.

The Tanzanian record champions also turned down a hotel they were booked into by their hosts on the same grounds.

They instead, opted to board a Matatu from the airport to a Thika Road-based hotel, on suspicion that their hosts could have used supernatural powers.

"They refused to board a bus that was waiting for them and instead, used a City Hopa," a source at JKIA told Goal.

This is not the first time that Yanga have turned down an offer from their host. In 2016, the Tanzanian side refused to board a bus availed to them by Rayon Sports during a Caf Confederation Cup match in Rwanda.

Gor Mahia also pulled almost a similar act last week during the just ended Cecafa Kagame Cup when they opted to change in the corridors instead, of the dressing room at the National Stadium before their semi-final match with Azam.
